The Bastard Fairies began when lead singer Yellow Thunder Woman and guitarist Robin Davey met in Minneapolis when Robin came from the U.K. to produce the 2003 release of Indigenous’ self-titled album. Soon after, they began to create their own music because “there wasn’t any music out there that they liked listening too”, Yellow Thunder Woman says.

Darrelyne is a young Métis singer/songwriter from The Pas in northern Manitoba. She released a 6 song EP in late 2008, entitled M.I.A. It includes Darrelyne’s hit single, “Eddie's Got A Mustang”.

Cris Derksen

Cris Derksen is a half-cree classically trained Canadian cellist whose captivating melodies and steadfast baselines have captured the attention of local and international audiences. Using a loop station and effect pedals, she is able to create an inspiring multi-dimensional auditory experience. She has performed in Norway, Spain, the Czech Republic, Brazil, and Cuba.

Madeskimo is a DJ and electronic music producer who fuses dub, electronica, urban, and electroacoustics with sounds referencing the midnight sun, the northern lights, Inuit legends, traditional songs, throat singing, and the drumming of the arctic.

Sonia Eidse is a clever young songwriter who has a talent for crafting memorable melodies. She spent time honing her skills with the Winnipeg Folk Festival’s Young Performers Program and Manitoba Music’s Aboriginal Music Performers Camp (AMP Camp) this year.

Ghostkeeper

Shane Ghostkeeper (vocals, guitar) and Sarah Houle (drums, vocals) were raised in High Level and the Paddle Prairie Metis Settlement in Alberta. Their sound features a distinctive voice infused with Mississippi roots music and the experimental blues of Captain Beefheart.

Blair Goudie is a singer/songwriter from Goose Bay, Labrador. His music is influenced by Dallas Green, Circa Survive, Blink-182, The Used, and Sonny Moore. Blair is also a self-proclaimed conspiracy theorist.

Singer/songwriter Jasmine Netsena shares her songs with audiences all over North America, from Canada’s Arctic to New York City to Nashville.  Collecting rave reviews along the way for her unique soulful sound, Jasmine's music is rooted in her Dene culture.

Evan Reeve is a talented singer/songwriter from Churchill, Manitoba. His music features memorable melodies and ska-influenced tempos.
